Bart, with the way things may shape out Gonzaga wants to be on the right train. Winning may be a mute point if we don't have a seat at the table. The well will eventually dry up in the WCC if the big players get what they want.

The WCC has shown some improvements, and Gonzaga has obviously made out very well. This is about setting Gonzaga up for the future. I think the movement will have huge impacts on recruiting, and sustaining success for the future. JMO, have to be proactive.

      • You're welcome to your opinion....I won't characterize it except to say I don't agree with your assessment..." What is wrong with winning all the time ?"....... is a quote from the podcast from Chris......my apologies, I did not make that clear.....

        • Wouldn't a watered down PAC 12 with WSU, Cal, Stanford, etc. plus SDSU and maybe add a Boise State or UNLV or SMU - with an Amazon Prime deal or some kind of deal where we can actually purchase a seasons worth of games - be kind of the best case scenario? Perennial favorite like in the WCC, bigger stage, premier western conference, without the daunting schedule in the B12? Isn't that the perfect WCC upgrade?

What are the 10-12 BEST teams available in the west ? Will Washington state give UW permission to move to a farther east conference? Does Washington state have that power? Is there a farther east conference that wants that drag on their RPI?
Not even a smile? What's your problem!

Washington moves its football program. The bball is collateral. It's football program has the value and clout for consideration in Big 10/12 expansion.

                  • Zags seem happy enough that the B12 commissioner met with us at an airport hotel one time and we've had a few calls, even though he's out philandering around the country with every other eligible damsel.

Depends on the P12 TV package. If it's on the P12 network, then no. It doesn't make much sense, IMO.

A lot of ifs and unestablished variables in that scenario.

                        Great situation? In theory, yeah.

Due diligence, anyone? If I wanted the best basketball conference, damn right I'm going to talk to anyone I think would achieve that vision. That being said, I'm prepared to place money on B12.

Yes, great due diligence for the B12. What due diligence are the Zags doing? Waiting for the phone to ring?

You could shock them by calling and asking! Maybe they would hear the phone ring and think it was them.

                              • At the moment it certainly feels like things are pretty quiet; what is more disconcerting in the new focus on UConn. I would hate to think that the Zags getting blown out by Connecticut (and their subsequent championship) has caused a shift in the Big-12's thinking.
