    ‘Bama.

I don’t expect to see much basketball chatter for a few days after last night’s 4OT football win in the Iron Bowl. Perhaps by Friday, the Tide basketball fans will be ready for a Top Ten brawl in a different sport.

Duke board has a maturity problem. That is at least their posts during the game.
One of the greatest stories in basketball history...Gonzaga!

        Washington.

This game may or may not happen based on their ongoing COVID outbreak. Their fans don’t seem to care if they play another game.

The season is still young. We are only eight games in and the Red Raiders have nine transfers this season. It would be foolish to expect a new head coach with new assistant coaches and so many new players to be clicking on all cylinders so soon. While I’m sure there will be a few more bumps in the road this season (maybe Gonzaga), fans can see that there is real talent on this roster. They just need more time to gel and gain comfort in the new offensive philosophy. Fans forget but it really wasn’t until mid-February before the 2019 Final Four team gelled. Let’s just hope they get it figured out by February 1st.

Reading the above description about Texas Tech one can easily substitute the name Gonzaga for TTech and it makes perfect sense; these are similar teams....still trying to gel but confident in the talent they have assembled. Just gotta fine tune some things.

Best quote ever on that Georgia State thread:

Considering that their 7'1" guy shoots threes at a higher percentage than anyone on our team, I could see how this game might be a challenge.

They have some real fans over on that site. They are quite bummed out to be playing #1 overall seed and even worse, so far away from home out here in the PNW. That is indeed a tough draw all around for what might otherwise be an entertaining first round game worth traveling to. Not taking anything for granted of course, but they are facing one hell of an up-hill battle on Thursday in Moda.

In the lead up to the game, I will be making a series of theologically-inspired jokes at the expense of Gonzaga, a fine Jesuit school (I am Catholic so I'm already preparing my penance).

Jokes such as: there aren't enough Papal indulgences for the hurt GSU will inflict on the 'Zags.

Or, for example: GSU will beat Gonzaga so soundly, the school and HC Mark Few will have their own Great Schism.

I could probably do this four or five more times."

I expect we'll see four days of this from Hog fans :

We're going to beat that ass. Someone said they'd beat us 8 times out of 10. BS. If they played in the sec they'd lose a couple of games to nobodies and play 500 ball against Arkansas, Auburn, Tenner and Kentucky. They beat an overly high ranked Texas, lost to Duke, beat UCLA, lost to Alabama, split with St. Marys, and the rest was filler.

I'm more worried about the refs than I am the Zags. I'm more worried about the big stick figure white boy than I am the big porn stache white boy. We do not have to have an outstanding shooting night to beat them, just a good one. Get a game where both Umude and Notae are hitting and we win going away, sans refs rateffing us.
Musselman's a helluva college coach: He's proven it at Nevada and now Arkansas. Should be an exciting night on Thursday.
