This is why Gonzaga will continue to recruit blue-chip talent. It's really that simple.

          It's already January 2022.

I'm a wee-bit nervous as no '22 or '23 class has been signed...or even much interest given. Outside a couple recruits who aren't really vested in Gonzaga (only listing).

Theres a very real possibility we lose almost everyone next season, save Anton Watson & Kaden Perry.

We seem more behind than usual as it related to recruiting this upcoming class. This time last year looked a lot different as it relates to upcoming recruits, same with the year prior, and so on.

Timme, Hickman, Sallis, Strawther, Holmgren, et al each have a chance at professional basketball and all receiving interest, at least somewhere.

Haven't felt this weary on recruiting front maybe ever...we've always had the certainty of players returning or we have signed actual Top 100 or Top 50 recruits.

We have (1) kid for 2022...and thays if so far. And that 1 recruits is said to.need a year or two.

The Zags will always recruit good players because of the system that Few runs. What good player would not love to play in this wide open system. This the system that will always draw good players. Tommy running the Zag system at Arizona will hurt Zag recruiting somewhat. It is a lot easier to recruit at Arizona than Gonzaga. Coaches use playing in the WCC against coach Few in recruiting. They won't be able to do this against Tommy. Coach Few is great at developing average players into great ones. At Arizona Coach Lloyd will be able to recruit players that will already be great and he won't have to develop them. The Zag system is the most fun system in college basketball. I am truly supprised that other coaches haven't adopted it. Most coaches though are to arrogant to copy that offense from a little place like Gonzaga.

We are clearly expecting to return a lot of talent in 2022, while knowing we have the transfer portal if needed. I’d guess they have a pretty good idea about who will stay and go, and the recruiting hasn’t indicated a sense of desperation. That said, Anthony Black would be really nice.

Our old friend Caldwell tweeted today about the goal in 2023 being Jared McCain paired with Dusty Stromer. If that happens, we will be just fine.

Even with Mccain and Stromer - I worry about the front court and rim protection. Kayden Perry doesn't seem as if he can stay healthy as his back issue is chronic. Ben Gregg is not a rim protector and is a poor man's Killian Tillie. Remember he only was recruited after we lost out on Banchero. He was not a priority. Braden Huff is ranked 95th and is a good recruit but not elite. When we lose Timme, Holmgren, Strawther, and Watson - what are we going to do for a big physical player(s) down low. This has usually been a big strength for us with Sabonis, Przemek, Collins, Clarke, JW III, Timme, Petrusev, and Chet in the last several years. We have NOBODY like them that will be on the roster in 2023 or anybody that we are recruiting. We better hit the transfer portal hard in this area.

This was a superb video and very well done. So nice to hear a coach who understands and can explain the game well. As opposed to a talking head, Stephen A. Smith /professional blowhard type. Also very nice to see Miller give credit to Tommy and apparently with no bitterness at all.

These are the 2023 GU target bigs that I know about, and I'm not particularly well-informed. I'm sure there are more.

Update: Biliew said last summer he wanted to visit, and that Gonzaga was after him hard, but I just found this from Tipton yesterday that seemed to indicate GU is now out of the picture. https://www.on3.com/news/5-star-omah...ved-pro-route/

Randomly came across this story on Jared McCain just now:
                          https://www.zagsblog.com/2022/01/20/...f-nba-stardom/

It’s 5:52 a.m. in Corona, a city of just over 166,000 residents on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Sitting on a desk is a ripped, folded up copy of Timothy Gallwey’s The Inner Game of Tennis.
Facing directly ahead sits a yellow piece of paper pinned to the wall, containing a list of goals. Get 10 Division 1 offers. Check. Win Peach Jam. Check. McDonald’s All-American. Unchecked.
Since the eighth grade, Jared McCain has referred to this piece of paper, his “dream board”, daily with a Gonzaga logo to the left and a Duke logo to the right. [Emphasis added]

Thanks Scrooner - I know we had some interest in Jazz Gardner. But when i go his player page - Gonzaga isn't even listed as a program interested. I think we had interest in Omaha Billew too but like you I have heard he is not coming to GU. I had heard a little rumbling on Gus Yalden but not long ago I have heard that probably won't happen. The other two I'm not familiar with but our program isn't associated with either of them. Jazz Gardner seems to be the one most interesting but for some reason GU isn't on that list. So I just don't know of any bigs. That is why I think we might have to hit the transfer market hard - plus in 2023 they will all just be freshman and none of them will have the impact of Suggs or Chet. Even Timme came off the bench his freshman year as a backup to Filip. I think we are thin in the front court for next year and 2023. However, if by chance Timme comes back for his senior year that would solve many problems for 2022.
                              Love the Zags!!!
