Kevin Pangos signs with Cleveland - NBA dream finally realised
Similar to the story I posted above but this is a video tribute with a bit of a different take. Done by a good Toronto writer on KP first game in Toronto.
I will never forget that he played his junior with a turf toe....he just would not let it stop him....if you have ever had a turf toe you would know how much it hurts and the only "cure" that I am aware of is rest......amazing young man....it pains me to think of 28 as " old".
It will be very interesting to see if the Cavs increase Kevin's play time with the season -ending injury to Rubio and Sexton.
With Garland on Protocols KP is the only true point guard left on the roster.
While I would love to see Kevin get in and perform well, he has shown only moderate success at this level (I think his 3pt % has been pretty poor due to the better athletes he is facing).
My guess is that they look to trade or bring in another seasoned player before giving him significant minutes (over 15 per game).
At 35, with 15 long, hard seasons of wear on him, stats from his last five games with the Lakers would seem to indicate that Rajon is toast: Playing 18 min per game, he's averaged 3.1 points, 3.7 assists, with 12 To's while making 1 of 6 three-point FG attempts. That's, as Smokey Gaines famously said, one more than a dead man. On the +/- scale he's averaging -8. And, tellingly, he's supposedly out of tonight's game, according to the Cav's coach, due to "conditioning issues". The trade smacks of desperation. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Kevin's value to the team from Cleveland's front office, is it? I suppose Pangos' 23% conversion rate on treys might have something to do with it, but last I looked, 23% is still a few clicks up from 16%.
