Not a whisper of this in the SD Union Tribune. Maybe the promotion came after pub deadline. So Alek came in under the cover of darkness, slipped into the clubhouse incognito, and could well be optioned back to AAA after the All Star break without anyone ever knowing he was in town, had made THE SHOW. Never even qualified for that latte at Starbucks. Even so, slipping in & out of the clubhouse in the dead of night doubled or tripled his pay, didn't it? Being on the roster, with the team for even a few hours, doesn't that qualify him for the major league minimum? $725,000? You go Alek. Nuthin' stoppin' you now!

        Short blurb on Alek:

The Padres announced several roster moves this afternoon ahead of tonight's game against the Tigers. The club placed right-hander Alek …

Alek has been placed on the 60 day IL with a pitching arm flexor strain, effectively ending his season. It's unfortunate because the Padres have had several stalwarts of their staff go down to injury (Darvish, Musgrove) and Alec would have been given a chance to show what he's got if not for the injury. Docs have assured that the strain isn't something that, with rest & rehab, can't be successfully dealt with.

Interesting factoid: Alek is the second GU pitcher in the last seven seasons to finish a major League season with a 0.00 ERA. Can you name the other Gonzaga pitcher?

            U. High's Tyler Olson.

(I had to look it up, however).

A fittingly correct answer for post # 16150, S O F. Just think, when Tyler Olson finished his 30 innings of no earned runs in 2017, you probably only had a measly 10,000 posts on the board. Thanks for playing!

A guy in my Fantasy baseball league is a U-Hi grad & Dad. Knows the Olson's. Says the entire family is a class act.
