Is this a Mathis Monninghoff situation? Or is this guy legit?

Ouch, Hens. And you forgot Mathis Keita his “twin” recruiting miss.

I think that he is more athletic than one of the "twins" and has more BBIQ than the other. He has benefitted from the Australian basketball culture / system.

If St Marys are interested in him then he must have something going for him, I seem to recall they have done okay with Australians...

Gonzaga > St Marys. I'm sure a solid player, but the Caliber of players we recruit may be a peg above the Gaels.

I know nothing about him, but if Duke, Villanova, and GU are involved, he must be a pretty intriguing player.

2023 has been a wild ride since we missed on Jared McCain. Cooper and Yates appear pretty unlikely at this point. This guy would be a huge help.

NIL is a killer. We need transfer portal and to find the hidden gems to stay afloat. A little Tommy Lloyd magic esque on the Euro front would be helpful. With the long recruiting battles with these top tier players gives is little chance. Zoom would make me feel better, but his stock is blowing up.

Sounds like a good prospect. anyone know what the competition is like that he was racking up those numbers against?

The Australian U20 championships is the highest domestic level here for that age group.

Basketball in Australia is more a club/state sport than a school one and there is nothing like the AAU circuit.

The top junior players are brought through the Australian Institute of Sport's basketball academy in Canberra where they get additional training.

This is the same academy that produced Josh Giddey, Dante Exum, Joe Ingles, Patty Mills and of course Delly,

During the U20 championships they play with / against each other representing their State..

To give you an idea of the other top players at this event, the leading scorer was 5 star rated Duke commit, Tyrese Proctor who has recently re-classified from 2023 to 2022.

Alex is a year younger than most of the top players at the event.

Alex actually played with Tyrese and other top junior players in the the Semi-professional State league up against some players who also play in the Australian NBL.
